Admission Counselor
Melissa Shanks, our Admission Counselor, has worked in Management for over 18 years building a large network of contacts. She began at KLC College in July, 2014, bringing with her an informal approach and open door policy to the Admission office.


Coordinators and Instructors for the Kingston campus:

Lorena Blacklock - RN, Instructor PSW

Lorena's been a registered nurse for 18 years   She studied at St. Lawrence College and Queen's University. After working a decade in critical care nursing in the United States, she returned to Ontario and is currently employed full time with the Correctional Service of Canada as a correctional nurse specializing in addictions, mental health and infectious diseases.  She joined KLC College in 2012 as a part time clinical instructor and teacher of the PSW program.  

 
Cindy Coulter - Registered Dental Hygienist, Certified Dental Assistant Level II, Coordinator/ Instructor Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Program
 
Audrey DeCecco - RPN, Coordinator and Instructor PSW and Pharmacy Technician/Assistant Program
Certified Coach in Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care and certification in the P.I.E.C.E.S Approach to Assessment and Treatment for Older Adults with Complex Physical and Cognitive Needs and Behaviour Changes.

Audrey has over 9 years experience working in mental health and geriatric nursing and has worked for KLC College for over 8 years. Audrey has always had a passion for working with the older adults living with dementia.

Sandra J Foley - Law Clerk Instructor, Office and Business Administration
Sandra has over 25 years experience in the legal field employed as a law clerk and has worked for KLC College since 2003.

As a law clerk working in the private sector and now a legal office manager employed by the Provincial Government, Sandra has spent many years working with, teaching and managing law clerks in different areas of the law.


Susan Lewis (Communications, Inventory Management, Hospital Pharmacy) joined the team at KLC College in 2012. Sue graduated from Humber College Pharmacy Technician program in 1991. She worked at Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre for 10 years until relocating to Kingston in 2001. Sue began working at Kingston General Hospital in 2001 and became the charge technician in 2004. She has remained in this role ever since coordinating Technician/Assistant staffing, training and managing drug distribution issues. She is an active member of the Medication Safety Committee, Pharmacy Operations Council and Oncology Pharmacy Council at KGH. Sue is currently on the working towards her Pharmacy Technician registration, and will have successfully completed the PEBC qualifying examination in the fall of 2013.

Joanne Papps - BSc, Communicative Disorders, Instructor, Communication Disorders, PTA/OTA
Joanne has over 35 years experience as a Speech/Language Pathologist and has worked for KLC College for over nine years.
She has supported the speech and language needs of both adults and children in hospital, school and public health settings.

Carol Peterson R.Ph.T Carol is a registered pharmacy technician who is currently working in both hospital and retail environments. As a member of the Cadet Instructor’s Cadre (CIC), a component of the Canadian Armed Forces Carol has been teaching youth ages 12-18 and mentoring staff since 2006. Carol has completed many instructional courses through the Canadian Armed Forces and has brought her skills to our teaching facility. Carol is excited to be a member of the KLC faculty.  

  Veronica Robidoux – MOS, Coordinator /Instructor, Office Business Administration 
Veronica has been with KLC College for over 11 years. Veronica is certified in Microsoft Office Applications and brings a wealth of retained knowledge to share with the students.

Richard Skinner - BA, MA, Coordinator, Educational Assistant and Child and Youth Worker Programs
In his role as teacher, principal and coordinator Richard has gained a wealth of valuable experience.  He enjoys guiding the students at KLC College and sharing his enthusiasm, knowledge and ideas as they prepare for an exciting career working with children.


Jenn Vandusen - RN, S.A.N.E (sexual assault nurse examiner), Instructor, Personal Support Worker
Jenn worked in acute care nursing for 12 years focusing in maternal fetal medicine. She is also a sexual assault nurse examiner - pediatric and adult. Jenn is currently working at Corrections Canada and joined KLC College in November 2010. She is also currently attending Laurentian University to work on her BscN.

Brooklyn Vecchiola - RPN, Instructor Personal Support Worker

Brooklyn has gained most of her experience at the Lennox and Addington county general hospital with acute care and complex continuing care/palliative. She also worked with mental health and completed a year term at the Ottawa Carleton detention centre. She has taken additional courses such as abnormal psychology and plans on completing her BScN RN in the future.


Coordinators and Instructors for the Richmond Hill campus:

Allan J. Ashby
- B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed., O.C.T., Instructor of Education Assistant Program

Allan has been in education for over 36 years. This is his 6th year with K.L.C. College. As a classroom teacher, consultant, program facilitator, and administrator with the Public School Boards, his work has largely been to work with, and support, special needs' students at the elementary and secondary levels. As an administrator his work also included working in a Care, Custody, and Treatment Centre in a support capacity.

Martha Danziger - Admission Counsellor

Martha has been with KLC College for nearly three years. Before joining  KLC College she has had 17 years experience in Admissions and 20 years experience in business and sales running her own business. Her enthusiasm and dedication to the school has served her well as Admissions Counselor and Director of Admissions.

Judy MacLeod - BA, OCT, Educational Assistant Program

Judy as over 35 years experience in Education and has worked for KLC College for eight years. Judy has extensive experience working with and supporting Specials Need Children as a Public School teacher in the Primary, Junior and Intermediate levels, and as a Consultant for Elementary and Secondary Schools. 


Faculty

The college regularly has part-time opportunities for faculty. Our faculty members are practising professionals and are engaged by the college as independant contractors. The terms of the contract vary in length and scope, depending on courses being taught, but all have a start and end date and vary from term to term. For inquiries please contact KLC College.
