Program Description

The Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant program at KLC College is a 44 week diploma program.  The program has been approved as a vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Classes typically run Monday through Friday 8 am- 4pm. Some evening courses may also be required.

  • Exercise Foundations
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Surface Anatomy
  • Psychology (including Psychiatric disorders)
  • PTA I/PTA II
  • OTA I/OTA II
  • Fundamentals of neurological disorders
  • Communication Disorders
  • Disabling Conditions
  • Introduction to Gerontology

*Upon completion of all theory components of the course, the student will then complete 12 weeks of placement. Placement opportunities include: private physiotherapy clinics, long term care facilities, and hospital settings.

Note: Standard First Aid & CPR, and Non-violent intervention training (NVIT) are also included as part of the PTA OTA program 

Admission Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent is needed with demonstrated English proficiency, communication and comprehension skills. Students must have the equivalent standing at the general level in English.
